US Visa-on-Arrival Policy to Boost India Tourism

India is about to see a significant increase in the number of visitors from USA, thanks to the new decision taken by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to introduce visa- on- arrival (VoA) to US citizens. The decision was taken by PM Modi during his trip to America this September.

The new visa policy will allow US tourists to stay in India for up to 30 days. This has been considered as a smart move to boost India’s tourism industry and welcome more US tourists to India. Out of almost 6.6 million tourist arrival in India in 2012, 46% of them came from US to visit friends and family or to undergo medical treatment or just travel around the country as a part of their vacation.

Along with USA other countries which will be able to enjoy VoA include New Zealand, Finland, Japan and Singapore.
