Earnings from Foreign Tourism in India Increased by 4.6%

Union Tourism Minister Shripad Yasso Naik said that foreign exchange earning from tourism has risen by 4.6% compared to last year. Measures like tourist visa on arrival and electronic travel authorization have contributed to increased tourist influx and a rise in foreign exchange earning.

Mr. Naik said that tourism is a key sector that can contribute to India’s recovery and foreign exchange earnings. Several other initiatives like publicity, promotion, marketing and infrastructure have been taken by the ministry. As these measures will start working, foreign tourist arrival will significantly increase.
