Lofty mountains, lush green forest, serene lakes, eye-catching tea gardens are something which will welcome you in Ooty. Most popular as the Queen of Hills, it is the district capital of the Nilgiris district. I along with my friends visited this place without any proper planning. Since, one of my friends had visited the place before, it proved to be a great help for us. The days we spent there was a wonderful experience. Since we visited during the summers, we enjoyed a lot as the weather is very pleasant and of course the place.
Being one of the most famous destinations, it is full of tourist from every parts of the world. Those wanting to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life may not like it much because of the overcrowded tourist. Apart from this, there is everything which is a great source of enjoyment. The weather is simply perfect to beat the heat and relax your mind and body.
We missed the famous toy train ride as it needs prior booking. The experience of going through nature’s constricted alleys whistling and trailing while enjoying the beauty of nature is what we missed. It is all because we didn’t plan the trip. This ride covers a distance of around 46 kms. But it helped us save some time of ours as it runs in snails’ speed. It is something which you can enjoy in a few places in India.
Ooty has blooming vegetation with miles of tea gardens, eucalyptus trees, pine trees and many other trees and plants. The marvelous change in vegetation can be well noticed when one goes from Kallar to Coonoor. The picturesque location and the numerous Tea Estates made the place one of the best places to visit in India. Tiger Hill, Deer Park, Botanical Garden, Kalhatty Waterfalls, Museum, Kamraj Sagar Lake, Ooty Art Gallery, Rose Garden , St Stephens Church are some of the important places to see and enjoy if you are visiting the place. If you get a chance, do visit the tea factories. You will be amazed to see the process involved in making the tea leaves. Aroma of the freshly brewed leaves is just awesome. You can enjoy the different flavors of the best tea produced in India.
The famous Tea Festival also attracts hordes of tourists to Ooty. Though we didn’t get the chance of enjoying the festival, we made sure if we tour India next time, we will plan the trip during the time of the festival. We are still cherishing the moments spend there.
