Five-day music festival in the capital city from October 1

A fabulous news for all the music lovers, a five day music festival is going to start in the capital city, Delhi. The festival is worth attending as some of the best known names in Indian Classical music will converge in this Delhi classical festival. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit will inaugurate the festival at Kamani Auditorium on October 1.

This is the golden chance for all to see the 105 year old Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan. He is a vocalist of Hindustani music genre. This renowned musician has been awarded with many titles by the different reputed organizations and has received various awards and the most brilliant thing about him is that even at the age of 105 years, he is coming to Delhi to perform and soothe our ears with the melodious classical music.

The other legends who are giving their performances are Pt Jasraj, known for his renditions of Jai Hind and Tiranga, and Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma, the well known santoor player. Ustad Shujjat Khan, Pt Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, Ustad Imrat Khan, Pt Rajan and Pt Daya Shankar will also perform at the musical extravaganza.

“Traditionally Music Festivals of yesteryear’s have always started with Dhrupad or the Been, the oldest and most serious forms of classical music. We have kept that tradition,” said Anita Singh, vice chairperson of Punjabi Academy. This five days festival would definitely make you free some time from the busy schedule as such vibrant chances are not always there. So, soothe your ears with the best music and spare some time for yourself.
