Foreign Tourist Influx in India Surges in October 2014

Ideal tourist attractions in India to travel in May

Latest statistics released by Ministry of Tourism showed that rise in foreign tourist arrival in India increased by 6.56 lakh in October 2014 as compared to 5.98 lakh and 5.56 lakh in October 2013 and 2012 respectively. Almost 58.35 lakh foreign tourists arrived in India between January and October 2014 that marked a significant growth of 7.8% compared to 2013.

Although USA and UK continued to be one of the topmost sources of foreign tourists in India, other countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Russia, Malaysia, Canada, France, Japan, Australia, China, Pakistan, Thailand and Nepal have also entered the list. Also, in terms of foreign exchange earnings, India has earned Rs 9,847 crore in October 2014 as compared to Rs 8,645 crore last year. Indian festivals like Dusherra, Diwali, Onam, Pushkar Fair see the maximum arrival of foreign tourists in the country. Also, as the month of October witnesses the advent of festive season, tourist influx in India significantly rise during this period. This is also the best time to witness India’s exquisite culture and tradition.

Also, Indians living abroad mostly visit India during Dusehrra and Diwali and comprise a considerable amount of foreign tourist arrival witnessed by the country.
