E- Ticket Facility at Taj Mahal to Resume Soon

With the motto of making travel in India simpler, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has recently submitted a proposal for introducing e- ticket facility at Taj Mahal. Responding to the proposal, Archeological Survey of India (ASI) officials said that announcement about the inauguration of the facility will be made very soon.

With the e-ticketing facility tourists will be able to experience a hassle- free visit to the Taj Mahal. Visitors to the monument who now have to stand in long queues to buy entry tickets can pre-book their entry sitting back at home. Ministry of tourism has decided to make the service functional by March 2015. The ministry will also look into limiting the number of tourists per day. After the fixed ticket limit is crossed, visitors will be put in the wait list and tickets for the next available date will be issued to them. The National Environmental Engineering Research Institute is conducting a study on the carrying capacity of the mausoleum. A final decision on fixing the number of tourists per day will be taken once the report comes out after three months.
