India Takes Initiative to Resume Delhi- Kathmandu Bus Service

India is pushing for a direct bus service between New Delhi and Kathmandu to let tourism grow in Nepal. India is even keen to fund new road projects in areas like Janakpur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Nepal on 25th November to attend SAARC summit 2014 in the country. As the Prime Minister is going to take the land route this time, top level delegates of road transport ministry visited Kathmandu to work out modalities before they launch the bus service between these two cities. Sources said that out of 19 routes identified for bus service, four has been shortlisted, thereby narrowing down the proposal to only Delhi Kathmandu route.

To boost further ties, Nepal has referred to five freshly crafted road packages to India for seeking financial assistance. According to sources, Ministry of External Affairs would take the final call.
