A three day adventure tourism festival called ‘Adventure@Mechuka’ will be held at Mechuka Valley by Arunuchal Pradesh government between November 7 and 9, 2014. The festival aims to promote tourism in the Himalayan state and has been declared as a calendar event of Arunachal along with Tawang Festival, Siang River Festival, Pangsau Pass Winter Festival and Ziro Festival of Music.
State tourism secretary Joram Beda said that tourism is the only means of sustainable development of Arunachal Pradesh. The first edition of the festival has recorded 111% rise in foreign tourist inflow and the second one is expected to fetch in more. A large number of home stays along with government tourist lodges and private hostels serve as good accommodation options for both domestic and international tourists. Tourists can also indulge in a number of adventure activities like aero modeling, trap shooting, paragliding, mountain biking, rappelling, river crossing, micro-light aircraft, archery, horse riding and trekking. Various local communities organize traditional games, cultural extravaganza, and handicrafts exhibition for tourists. One also gets a chance to taste variety of local food items during the festival.
